It’s funny how things due in the spring can seem so far off before the holidays, and then as soon as it’s January all the deadlines suddenly loom so much closer. I have what is sort of a Masters thesis due at the beginning of April and that suddenly feels like it’s about two weeks away.

My coping mechanisms this week have been to shop for seasonally inappropriate vintage dresses and to reorganize my sewing stash. After that I managed to sit down and crank out a few pages today so I think it seems to be working! Hee.

Rambly housekeeping

Hello! I’m a bit loopy so I apologize if I ramble or don’t make sense. I went home to California for the week and just flew back on a red eye last night. I got in around 8am, slept until 1pm (whoops), and spent the day being the laziest bum ever. Getting up at 8am to go to work tomorrow is going to be interesting.

A couple of things:

1) Being reunited with my laptop is awesome. *strokestroke*

2) Some of you sent me photos of projects to be entered in the Copycat Challenge. Those should all be up now! It’s so awesome seeing what everyone has come up with. Keep them coming! (If you don’t see yours up, shoot us an email and we’ll post it asap.)

3) I’ve got some fun photos to share! I intentionally only brought my 50mm lens home so it would force me to practice using it properly and it’s gotten a lot easier! Seester and I had some fun photo sessions that I’ll share once I get the 600 photos we took (yikes!) organized and edited.

4) Home was fun! I’m a little sad to be back. We managed to squeeze a lot in a week and even had time to spend multiple days lounging in bed in pjs watching hours and hours of Torchwood. (Have you seen it?? I’m a little bit obsessed. Ok, a lot. In my defense: John Barrowman.)

And now I have to go be a productive person and get ready for the week. Or.. go to bed and deal with it in the morning. :]

Sewing > paper-writing

Today I decided that my productivity levels were going to be directly correlated with my adorbableness level.

Or something.

I wonder if I could just hand in some handmade dresses instead of a 10-15pg paper.

Probably not for a class on counseling children and adolescents.

Hrm.

(Yes, I made the sweatshirt last night during a study break that accidentally ended up being three times as long as I had planned. Whoops. And yes, I will do an actual detailed post on it in the very near future.)

Ok, now back to work!

xx

In two weeks this hellish semester, also known as the black hole of endless papers, will be over and I’ll have six glorious weeks off! I’ve been making a mental list of all of the things I want to do when I recover my sanity.

1) Make a latch hook rug. I’ve been dying to do one of these for ages and seeing the one on A Beautiful Mess recently rekindled that desire.

2) Experiment with attempting to make a blazer. I’ve never made one before and for some reason it just sounds daunting. We’ll see how this goes. And yes, this is directly related to the New Girl marathon I had the other day.

3) Make a schmancy tote bag. Also something I’ve never sewn before. Less daunting though. Andd now I’ve jinxed it. Poo.

4) Finish Seester’s Christmas present. From last year. -whoops-

5) Spin ALL the yarn so I can work on my almost-entirely-from-scratch sweater.

6) FINALLY take photos of the two dresses I made recently so I can post them.

December 17th. Freedom! Thirteen days to go.

In the meantime, the roomies and I have started putting up Christmas decorations!
