Hello! My name is Ping and I pretty much live and breathe all things crafty.
I have never managed to outgrow the desire to play dress-up. It’s nearly impossible for me to watch any kind of fantasy/sci-fi/period film without running out to buy fabric to recreate at least one costume. I may or may not have a tendency to sob my way through Lord of the Rings wearing an Arwen dress. Or through Stardust in an Yvaine dress. No seriously, it’s a sickness.
I mostly like to sew and knit, and I dabble in embroidery and beading as well. I’m considering having my sewing machine surgically attached to my arm. Or at least a rotary cutter or two. I’m a closet nerd and I’m kind of obsessed with computer games and board games. If you’ve ever played Monkey Island, Gabriel Knight, Zork, or Dreamfall, you’re basically my new best friend.
Note: I am currently not accepting any custom orders. I am, however, totally happy to point you in the direction of patterns I used or to give tips and advice on where to start. Feel free to leave a comment or send me an email with any questions.
Thanks so much for visiting!
Love your Hermione red dress. My niece wants me to make her one for homecoming. How did you cut the chiffon stripes? Rotary cutter? and are the ruffles on the skirt stitched or free flowing? I did see that you were taking on commission work…..how much for this dress? Love the sweaters as well.
Hi Georgia! For the chiffon strips, I measured how wide I wanted each strip to be, cut about an inch into the fabric, and then just tore the rest. It gives it that nice slightly frayed. Just make sure if to use a seam sealant if you’re using a fabric that frays easily! And the ruffles on the skirt are hand-stitched all the way down.
For a price quote, go ahead and email me at wbkpd1@gmail.com with your dress size and chest size and I’ll be happy to give you a quote! 🙂
Hi!
First I must say that all your work is AMAZING. I went through your entire flckr blog. I love your replica of Hermione’s striped sweater.
And I was wondering what size of needles you used for the body and for the ribs (US or mm). And did you use a pattern for this sweater? If so, could you share its source?
I absolutely love all your knitting work 🙂
Thank you for the time you take to share this with us!
Gabrielle
Oh I see you linked your work on the sweater to Ravelry. It is the pattern you used, as I deduced 🙂
It was still worth telling you how beautiful the things you do are!
Aww thanks! 🙂 I think you found the Ravelry link that should answer your questions on needle size and whatnot but if you have any more questions just let me know!
Thank you for replying!
I signed up to ravelry, if we ever communicate there, my username is Gabiie. Like that, you’ll know it is the same girl that left comments in here 😉
Sounds great, I’ll add you!
I absolutely love your blog! I found you through Ravelry but your sewing is simply inspirational for me. I find myself wanting to sew more dresses…and I normally wear pants!
Hello Peneloping! I wanted to let you know that I nominated you for the Versatile Blogger Award. I love looking through your blog and your amazing ideas and fashion fixes. I can’t wait to see what you’ll make next!
