Darling Ranges #2

Darling Ranges #2 detail

I know, I know. I have yet to post pictures of Darling Ranges #1. I only finished making the back ties last night and wore it for the first time. Have I mentioned how much I love this pattern?? I ended up making another one today, that’s how much. Meet Darling Ranges #2!

Darling Ranges #2
dress: self-made (Darling Ranges by Megan Nielsen), shoes: Nine West (thrifted)

I made a few changes to this one, but nothing huge. I added about two inches to the waist, and then made the skirt hit about 1/2″ lower than the other one.

Darling Ranges #2

I scored a huge stash of gorgeous prints when I went fabric shopping with my friend’s mom last week. This coral-y red print was my favorite of the bunch, and I also picked up a gorgeous pale spring green version of the same print. I think that one’s going to be Darling Ranges #3. Ooh maybe a sleeveless version!

Darling Ranges #2

No, but seriously. If you don’t own this pattern go buy it. Immediately. And then make at least four versions of it. Do it. Now.

There is some sort of fairy magic conspiracy associated with stockinette stitch.

When I first started this sweater I knitted half of it in three days. And then it dragged on and on and on. And then there was some frogging. And then I was all done except for the sleeves. And then three months went by where I could hardly seem to put a dent in it.

And then I picked it up two weeks ago and finished it in two days.

Fairy magic, I tell you.

Georgia

(Sorry for blurry, camera phone..)

This sweater took me two tries. I think the first time I started off knitting a size 36 which was waaay too big. It’s possible my gauge was wonky. When I started over I knitted a size 32 until the sleeve separation and then starting knitting a size 28 for the rest. I also added a few inches to the body.

Georgia

And now I have to decide what color to make the next one in.. Maybe a ballerina pink? Or bright red? or green? (Knit ALL the colors!)

PS Happy Valentine’s Day!

I mentioned previously that I hate the way hats look on me.

Another thing I’m not a huge fan of is hat hair, especially when it’s been raining and the dampness of confining headwear leads to utterly unflattering hair-dos reminiscent of drowned rodents.

While I was at the yarn shop the other day, one of the ladies there recommended this pattern and was kind enough to print me a copy.

Wineberry headband/ear warmer

It’s a super quick knit, and ideal Christmas knits..!

The flower was done with Karin’s Rose pattern on Ravelry.

I should start this off by mentioning that I hate hats.

Yellow Jane

Actually, that’s not entirely true. I love hats, I just hate the way they look on me. Usually.

I usually look bald unless my hair is in front of my ears under the hat, but then the hat doesn’t sit right with all that hair in the way. It’s just a disaster.

Yellow Jane

Somehow though, this one works.

I’m going to have to knit at least three more of these.

Sidenote: Taking photos of the back of my head in the mirror is surprisingly difficult. This one took eight tries.
