Lazy Sunday

It’s sort of muggy out, the perfect weather for lazing around and getting absolutely nothing done.

I managed to be a huge bum all morning but then had a surge of productivity. No idea where it came from but I hope it lasts. Up until now I’ve tried to update the blog more frequently than not, but I think the utter lack of organization has kind of led to sporadic posts followed by nothing for a week, followed by sporadic posts. Not exactly what I’m going for.

Luckily I happened upon this blog, and particularly this blog post and decided that a blog calendar is the way forward. Sidenote: I have no idea why I’ve never thought of this. Other sidenote: I could never in a million years pull off purple/blue hair but holy crap it looks amazing on her.

So I spent about half an hour writing out posts I’ve had in the back of my mind that I keep forgetting about when I actually sit down to write. And then I another half hour writing post-its for projects I keep meaning to finish and put those post-its on the second half of the month to give me some time to finish them. And now I have to finish them or bloggy will be sad and empty. It’s a win-win.

On a semi-related note, I may be guilty of jumping on the Pinterest bandwagon. In my defense, it’s SO helpful for keeping all of the sewing ideas/DIY/tutorials I run into in one accesible place!

Here’s some stuff I’m excited to try:

I thrifted a dress a while ago that I’ve been wanting to alter but wasn’t sure how. I think this might be a winner.

I printed out the Colette Sorbetto pattern a while ago and have been meaning to play around with it. I keep getting distracted by a tiny voice in my brain that keeps yelling “MAKE ALL THE DARLING RANGES!”

Anyway, this was one of the variations I wanted to try. I love how flowy and summer it looks with the gathers instead of just one front pleat. I’d wear this with summery cardigans and denim shorts.

This pattern is available for free on Burdastyle and I’ve had it for literally five years. I’m not exaggerating. I rediscovered it yesterday and now I really want to make it but I might add a skirt to turn it into a dress.

I’ve been on the lookout for lace appliques like these so I can make these shorts. I’m so in love. LOVE.

In other news, I need to go buy colored post-its.

Some things

Things that make me want to rip out my hair:

– I promised my sister I would start Jillian Michaels’ 30 Day Shred today. I tried the ab toning one a few months ago and got through about twelve minutes. Haven’t worked out since, that’s how torturous it was. That lady is evil.

– I have a horrendous paper due tomorrow. It should be really easy but for some reason I’m having all sorts of trouble with it. Gah.

– I also have a presentation to give on Wednesday, two group projects due on the 23rd, and a paper due on the 30th. We’re not even going to peek into what I have due in the first nine days of May.

– I made a dress but the fabric is too thick and now it’s sitting funny. Gah.

– I made another dress and the fabric is possibly too thin and I’m afraid it’ll be see-through.

Things that make me smile inside:

– I got through a Jillian Michaels workout! Granted, I didn’t use weights because I don’t have any yet.. But still!

– I’m going to France in 84 days!

– I know I’m way behind the ball on this one but I’m really obsessed with Swedish Hasbeens.

– I’m considering taking a photography class.

– Boyfriend and I are going to his roomie’s family’s lake house next weekend!

– The two dresses I made are super cute!

– My hair is ridiculously long. I lurve it. I’ve been trimming it every few weeks but I’m determined to grow it to even more ridiculous proportions so I can dress up as a proper elf when the Hobbit comes out. (Yes, I am a huge nerd.)

– My camera. It’s just full of squees.

– I have a place to live next year!

And just because I have no interesting photos to share, here’s a one of me and Lyds out last week before school got crazy.

Things I want to write about

– The million xmas knits I’ve finished this week. No srsly, there are so many.

– The million xmas knits I still have to finish before xmas.

– The awesome buttons I bought today that were used in Shutter Island. (Not the exact ones, but the exact design.)

– The awesome sweater I just finished that the buttons are going to be sewn onto.

– The lovely movie I saw last night (Hugo) and how it led to me remembering a name I’ve been trying to remember for the past two years (Busby Berkeley).

– The millions of papers I’ve written in the past two weeks. Only one left and then freedom!!

So apologies for the lengthy silence, but brb.
