Are you guys as excited as I am to see everyone else’s projects? It’s been such fun seeing everyone’s copycats and getting inspired myself. My to-do list has grown about a foot just seeing everyone’s projects!
A huuuuge thanks and transatlantic hugs to Erin of I<3Fabric for helping me host this thing. This has been so much fun! I can’t believe you did this all while in the midst of planning and attending your wedding! (Go check out her wedding dress that she designed, it’s gorgey!)
Also thanks a bajillion to everyone who participated!! We could never do this without you guys and I get all kinds of warm fuzzies seeing so many seamstresses who are as passionate about sewing from inspiration garments as I am! I definitely hope to do this again!

I am new to sewing and to your blog, and was very impressed with the entries to your Copycat Challenge. All of the entries are excellent, and some are sensational. This brings me to my reason for commenting. Considering the skill and effort involved in making an entry to your challenge, it seems very wrong to me that the winner will be chosen by a random number generator, rather than by you and your co-sponsor selecting someone on the basis of merit; i.e., similarity to the inspiration piece, precision of fit, quality of construction, level of difficulty, etc.
Hi Ann, thanks so much for your comment. I definitely understand where you’re coming from but I have to say that I disagree. One of my favorite things about blogging is inspiring people new to sewing and I think it would be unfair to choose winners of this sewing challenge solely based on skill level. Were this a sewing competition then I would totally agree, but the point of this challenge was to challenge people to create something inspired by an existing garment, not for each person to create the best, most intricate and identical project possible. Erin and I do have plans to acknowledge entrants who we feel put in extra time, effort, and/or skill, but I do want to stress that we wanted people to have fun with this challenge and to not feel excluded because they may have less experience with sewing. I hope that makes sense and thanks again for your comment!
I must say, many inspired garments look much beter than the originals. Well done everyone, excellent job
