I finally finished one of my three copycats for the Copycat Challenge! I mentioned most of the how-to stuff earlier in this post.

Technically it’s not 100% done. I’m still on the lookout for four smallish flat bronzey buttons for right under the bow, between the dangly bits. So far no luck.

Three weeks left in the Copycat Challenge guys! It’s been really awesome seeing what everyone’s made and I have a whole slew of projects to add to my own to-do list. Keep them coming!

*Excuse the rumply-ness. I’m between irons and have been roughing it with a hair straightener. Yeahh..

  1. This is so adorable OMG I want it!!! What an amazing copy-cat – great find on the bow and the lace. Also thanks for introducing me to the WWZDW website – goodbye rest of the day, hello pinning EVERYTHING! 🙂

  2. How sweet!!!! I’m super jealous of this one. Is it the kind of dress you’ll wear any and every day or for some special occasion? You look lovely =D

    1. Thanks!! I’m not sure yet. I didn’t make it for any specific occasion and I think I could dress it down with a cardigan and maybe some fun tights and boots for everyday wear.

  3. That dress is a wow. Love the bow detail! How adorable. Your garment is so well sewn. A hair straightener? What a great idea! I would never thought of that but it would certainly work. Very creative.

    1. Thank you! Yeahh definitely a remnant of my sewing-in-a-tiny-dorm-room days. It works surprisingly if your straightener is heat adjustable! Which my current one is not.

  4. Wow that is beautiful – I love the trim around the waist and what perfect lace fabric! I love wwzdw – hours can be lost on there! xxx

    1. Oh tell me about it. I wish they’d use less Kate Spade stuff. My bank account cringes every time I go on that site -_-

  5. So adorable! I love how the lace looks subtly different between the bodice and the skirt because of the black backing. And the bow, so cute!

  6. I’ve been following you for a little bit now and you know what I love about everything you make? All the feminine details (bows, buttons, etc) that you add. I’m a huge fan!

    1. Aww thanks! Sometimes I have to restrain myself because it’s so much easier to cover something with cute bows and ribbons than it is to actually wear something bow/ribbon-covered in public 🙂

  7. Adorable! The off-white color turned out perfect on your fabric.

Have you check ed out Sew-Low in Cambridge? They have literal buckets filled with random buttons, maybe you can search through and find something there…

    1. Ooh no I’ve never heard of them! Thank you thank you, I’ve been looking for a good button place ever since Windsor Button closed down!

  8. This is so pretty, love how the top looks different in a different coloured lining from the skirt. And that bow, it’s just perfect isn’t it?

    1. Thank you! I was so so excited when I found it, and then spent two weeks crossing my fingers that it was big enough for what I had in mind. Super happy with it!

  9. Cute, cute, cute! So many wonderful details in this dress, but my favorite is that crochet bow. I think your bow is even better than then one found on your inspiration look. Thank you and Erin for organizing the copycat challenge, Laney and I have really had fun participating. We might even have a couple more entries in the pipeline if we could only sew faster!

    1. Thanks so much for participating!! I looove the adorable outfits you guys made!

(Who am I kidding, everything you guys make is adorable..)
